Last newsHelicopter hoist training over CologneVideo by Follow me - HeliTech, published November 16, 2025, shows the rehearsal of a winch training taking place at Cologne over the river Rhein between the two bridges of Zoo and Hohenzollernbrücke. The rehearsal is for an event held on November 18, 2025, at the same place. Hoist operations are among the most demanding tasks helicopter crews perform, requiring perfectly coordinated teamwork. Every movement must be precise, and each team member must be able to rely completely on the others. One of the major challenges is that the pilot has no direct view of the accident site. Instead, the winch operator, positioned at the open door, guides the pilot with precise instructions. The medical team is lowered on the winch cable to provide emergency care to the patient. Afterwards, the patient is lifted back into the helicopter on a stretcher, accompanied by the rescue personnel. Once on board, the injured person is safely secured and transported to an appropriate hospital. To ensure that helicopter crews are fully prepared for this complex and demanding work, ADAC and DRF Air Rescue conduct training sessions at least twice a year. During these courses, crews receive in-depth instruction on hoist operations and have the opportunity to practice realistic rescue scenarios under controlled conditions. Appeared:16.11.2025
